Ceramic tile can have a rough finish, a contoured finish, or a smooth finish.  It can be glazed or unglazed.  Porcelain tile is glazed (see Tile Information for more detail).  Each of these surfaces presents a different cleaning challenge, as does the grout that separates the individual tiles.

We apply a general cleaning solution that works for all these conditions to the tile and grout, and then let it to dwell for a short period to allow it to break up oils and grease.  Then we attach a Hydro-Force SX-12 wand to our truck mounted hot water extraction unit.  This wand has a rotating head enclosed in a housing that rides over the surface of the tile.  As our technician moves the wand over the surface of the tile, jets of water at up to 1,000 psi aid the cleaning solution in breaking up grease, dirt, and other contaminants on the tile.  The wand also utilizes a powerful vacuum of 14 “Hg (see Measuring Vacuum for more detail) to quickly remove all liquids from the tile and grout.  This prevents overflow onto adjacent flooring surfaces and ensures a short drying time.

We can also apply a coat of sealer to keep the grout looking better longer.

Ceramic and Porcelain Tile

We use the same process to clean ceramic and porcelain tile.  The cleaning process is very effective and prevents overflow onto adjacent wood flooring, carpet, or VCT.  There are two steps in the process:

1. Application of a cleaning solution to dissolve grease, dirt, and other contaminants on the tile

2. Agitation and removal of the cleaning solution with a truck mounted hot water extraction unit with a ceramic tile wand attached.

· Cleans all types of ceramic and porcelain tile, and the grout between the tile in an efficient two-step process—saving you or your personnel wait time

· Powerful jets of rinsing solution dislodge grease, dirt, and other contaminants

· Powerful vacuum extracts liquids effectively, preventing overflow onto adjacent flooring surfaces
